Over 15 years serving Kent, over 30 years' experience
Ashford Glass Supplies is a family-run business. We've been serving homes and businesses across Kent and East Sussex since 2010, and our team brings over 30 years' experience in the glass and glazing industry.
Every job is done by our own team. We never use subcontractors, so the person who quotes for your job is part of the same small family team that fits it. Local homeowners, landlords, schools, hotels and businesses have trusted us with their glass year after year, and many come back to us whenever something needs fixing.

Why does double glazing go misty?
A double glazed unit is two panes of glass with a sealed gap between them. Over time the seal around the edge can break down. Moist air gets in and condenses between the panes, and you can't wipe it away from either side. Once that happens the unit won't clear on its own, but the frame around it is usually perfectly fine.
What we do
-
Free quote, no call-out charge. Send us a photo or give us a call and we'll take it from there.
-
We measure up. We measure the glass exactly so the new unit fits your frame properly.
-
Your new unit is made to measure. It's usually ready in 5 to 10 working days, sometimes sooner depending on manufacturing.
-
We fit it. Our own team takes out the old unit, fits the new one and leaves everything clean and tidy.
Frames and glass we work with
We replace misted units in uPVC, aluminium and timber windows, doors and conservatories, in single, double and triple glazing.
We can supply:
-
Clear glass
-
Obscure (frosted) glass for bathrooms and front doors
-
Energy-efficient low-E glass with argon gas filling
-
Toughened safety glass
-
Laminated glass
-
Fire-rated glass
Not sure what you need? We'll advise you when we measure up.
Upgrade to energy-efficient glass at the same time
Many older double glazed units, especially those fitted before the early 2000s, are just two panes of plain glass with air in between. Today's units do a much better job of keeping the heat in. So replacing misted or tired units is also a good chance to make your home warmer, without changing your frames.
A 28mm double glazed unit: then and now

*U-value measures how much heat escapes through the centre of the glass (W/m²K). The lower the number, the better. Figures are typical industry values for each type of unit. The exact figure depends on the glass used.
Our standard specification
Unless you need something different, every replacement unit we supply comes as standard with:
-
Low-iron glass. It's extra-clear, without the green tint of ordinary glass, so your views look brighter and truer.
-
Warm-edge spacer bars. They cut heat loss around the edge of the unit, where older aluminium spacers let the cold in.
-
Low-E coating. An invisible coating that reflects heat back into the room.
-
Argon gas filling. It insulates better than air.
The benefits of new energy-efficient units
-
A warmer home. Less heat escapes through the glass, so rooms hold their warmth for longer.
-
Lower heating use. Your heating doesn't have to work as hard. How much you save depends on your home.
-
Fewer cold spots. The inside pane stays warmer, so sitting near a window or patio door feels more comfortable.
-
Less condensation on the room side. A warmer inside pane and warm-edge spacers mean less condensation forming on the glass, especially around the edges.
-
Clearer views than ever. No more mist or cloudy patches, and low-iron glass looks brighter than the glass you had before.
-
Keep the frames you have. Your existing uPVC, aluminium or timber frames stay put, so there's no mess and no new windows to pay for.
The frame itself stays the same, so the improvement across the whole window will be a bit less than the glass figures above. It's still a real step up from older plain-glass units.
Honest advice, always
When we survey your home for a glass upgrade, we'll always give you a straight answer. If we feel your windows aren't suitable, for example because the frames are past their best, we'll tell you upfront.
We don't sell or fit replacement window frames, so we have nothing to gain from that advice. If we tell you new units aren't the right answer, you can be sure we're putting your interests first.
5-year guarantee
All our replacement units come with a 5-year parts and labour guarantee against thermal breakdown. If your new unit mists up within that time, we'll put it right free of charge, with no quibble.
Who we help
Most of our misted glass work is for homeowners and landlords. We also look after schools, hotels, care homes, offices and commercial buildings. Whether it's one bedroom window or a whole building's worth of tired glass, we're happy to help.
Areas we cover
From our base in Ashford we cover the M20 corridor down to Dover and across east Kent to Rye, including Headcorn, Maidstone, West Malling, Folkestone, Hythe, Deal, Sandwich, Canterbury, Tenterden, New Romney and Lydd, plus the villages in between. Sorry, we don't cover Margate or Ramsgate.

Misted glass: frequently asked questions
Do I need a whole new window if my double glazing is misty?
No. In most cases we replace just the sealed glass unit and keep your existing frame.
Can misted double glazing be cleared without replacing the glass?
Once the seal has failed, the moisture keeps coming back. Replacing the sealed unit is the reliable fix.
Is misty glass the same as condensation on the inside of my window?
No. Condensation on the room side can be wiped away and is usually caused by humidity in the house. If the mist is between the panes and won't wipe off, the unit's seal has failed and the unit needs replacing.
Do you work on uPVC, aluminium and timber frames?
Yes. We replace misted units in uPVC, aluminium and timber windows, doors and conservatories.
How long does it take?
After we measure up, your new unit is usually ready in 5 to 10 working days, sometimes sooner depending on manufacturing. We then come back and fit it.
Are the new units guaranteed?
Yes. All our replacement units come with a 5-year parts and labour guarantee against thermal breakdown. If your new unit mists up within that time, we'll put it right free of charge, with no quibble.
Can you supply toughened, laminated or fire-rated units?
Yes. As well as clear and obscure glass, we supply energy-efficient low-E units with argon, plus toughened, laminated and fire-rated glass.
Will new units make my home warmer?
Usually, yes. A modern 28mm unit with low-E glass and argon loses roughly 60% less heat through the glass than an older plain-glass unit of the same thickness.
My double glazing isn't misty, but it's old. Is it worth replacing?
If your units are plain glass with an air gap, upgrading to low-E argon units keeps your frames and makes the room warmer. Send us a photo or give us a call and we'll tell you honestly whether it's worth doing.
What glass do you use as standard?
Our replacement units come as standard with low-iron glass, warm-edge spacer bars, a low-E coating and argon gas filling, unless you need something different such as obscure, toughened, laminated or fire-rated glass.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
No. There's no call-out charge, and all our quotes are free with no obligation.
I'm a landlord. Can you replace several units at once?
Yes. We regularly work for landlords and businesses, and we're happy to quote for several windows across one or more properties.
How long have you been in business?
We've been serving Kent and East Sussex since 2010, with over 30 years' experience in the industry. We're family-run and never use subcontractors.
