What we do in Folkestone and Hythe
-
Misted double-glazed units replaced in uPVC, aluminium and timber frames – we change the sealed unit, not the window
-
Broken and cracked glass replaced: clear, obscure, toughened, laminated and fire-rated
-
Door and window repairs: hinges, handles, locks, mechanisms, seals, and bi-fold and patio door wheels
-
Putty-glazed timber windows and steel Crittall-style windows reglazed, and modern leaded glass replaced
-
Catflaps and pet doors fitted into glass, plus mirrors, safety glass, furniture protectors and table tops
We don't sell or fit replacement window frames. If a window isn't worth repairing, we'll tell you straight.
Repairs for coastal homes
Living by the sea is hard on doors and windows. Salt in the air wears out hinges, handles, locks and friction stays faster than inland, and wind-driven rain finds any tired seal. On the seafront, along The Leas and in Sandgate and Hythe, a stiff handle or a window that won't lock is often one worn part that can be replaced without changing the window.
Send us a photo of the handle, hinge or lock and we'll tell you whether it can be repaired.
Folkestone and Hythe homes we work on
Folkestone and Hythe have a real mix of homes, and each brings its own glazing jobs:
-
Victorian and Edwardian houses in the West End and around The Leas, many now split into flats, often with older double glazing that has started to mist
-
1930s and post-war semis in Cheriton and north Folkestone, many with uPVC windows from the 1980s and 1990s
-
Newer homes in Hawkinge and Shorncliffe Heights, where the usual jobs are hinges, handles and bi-fold or patio door runners
-
Seafront flats in Sandgate, Hythe and around the harbour
Parts of Folkestone and Hythe are conservation areas. If your building is listed or in a conservation area, check with Folkestone & Hythe District Council before changing how your windows look. We can help you choose glass that keeps the original look.
Landlords, hotels and care homes on the coast
Folkestone and Hythe have plenty of rented flats, seafront hotels, guest houses and care homes. We work for landlords and letting agents – we can collect keys from the agent and call your tenant to arrange access. We also work for hotels, care homes, schools and offices, fitting toughened, laminated and fire-rated glass where it's needed.
Recent jobs in Folkestone and Hythe
New conservatory roof panels, Folkestone
In Folkestone we replaced the roof panels on a conservatory where the old sheets had turned yellow and grimy and were letting in less and less light. We took out the old panels and fitted new ones in the existing roof bars, so the conservatory is bright again without a new roof.

Before and after: new conservatory roof panels in Folkestone.
Misted units replaced in timber casement windows, Hythe
In Hythe we replaced the misted double-glazed units in a pair of painted timber casement windows. The old units had failed and were streaming with condensation. We fitted new made-to-measure sealed units in the existing timber frames and kept the traditional black handles and stays, so the windows look just as they did, only clear again.

Before and after: misted units replaced in timber windows in Hythe.
